Why do you write? Is writing poetry like breathing air?
I am enjoying my life of words. Poetry can lead me to places I've never thought possible.
Poetry is the key, the key to knowing yourself better, to saying what can only be said between the lines of the last breath and the next. It's how you can find your way back to center.
Can you go long periods without writing poetry and still feel sane?
I think poets write because it's only half a life without it. I write because I feel out of sorts, discombobulated, inside-out, grumpy, and life just makes more sense when I'm writing.
The past couple of months I've probably written more than I have in the last year and a half and I have to say I was quite depressed without it. Since I've been writing more I feel clear-headed, probably because I've been vomiting the words onto the page and out of my head. Still too many words are cluttering my mind, but I'm getting there.

ReplyDeleteSoul Searching Poetry
Poetry is the free flow of words,
Inspired by the pure thoughts with in
It is the expression of the free spirit
That is expressed purely for oneself
Then the poetry writing is meditating....
Which is amusing to the soul....
Poetry is the free flow of words.....
There is no compulsion on free spirit.......and that is Divine.

ReplyDeleteI lost sleep over this poem - more images and ideas than I ended up writing. I may have to submit a part 2 at some point... Such is my Must
ReplyDeletehttps://zwabisabi.blogspot.com/2017/10/must.html
My original version repeats the line My Must before most stanzas... Do you think it works better with or without the repetition?
DeleteMy
Must

My Must
Came

My Must
Flowed
unfiltered
angst
against
my
spiral
bound
secrets
My Must
Tugged
stylus scalpel
against
abandoned
sinew
My Must
Severed

Now
My

Definitely with, I like this a lot. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteThis is my piece for day 2. It is brief, dark, and heavy. If anyone would prefer to avoid darker works, then here is the link to avoid.
