Day 13 - Art in the Wayward Mind

As artists (yes, my friend, poets are artists), as creative beings, we have a reputation for being a wayward bunch. We see the world in so many unique and unusual ways. The "normal" people often think we are odd, quirky, troubled, even bizarre. But I'm here to tell you, we make the world a better, a more beautiful place.

For today's challenge, I'm going to share with you a few images from artists who inspire me. Each one is linked to either a video or a website with a bit about the artwork. Feel free to use one of my inspirations to feed your poetic muse today or share one of your own.

  1. I’m so excited I tried my hand at a #sestina! It fits today’s prompt I believe, in being inspired by art. In this case music: https://unassortedstories.wordpress.com/2017/10/13/leave-me-this-way/

  2. I don't usually write about writing, but today's prompt seemed to call for it. http://www.katelynthomas.com/2017/10/octpowrimo-day-13-sculpting-poem.html

  4. Prompt: Art in the wayward mind

True! So True! I loved the images and taking inspiration from them allowed my thoughts to drift around a bit before coming to a standstill in front of an unused and old palette lying alone at one corner.

  7. Even though I chose to diverge from the prompts today, I very much enjoyed looking at the muses' offerings. Today's prompt again is for mature audiences only, over the age of 18. Here ya go: http://tao-talk.com/2017/10/13/day-13-octwripomo-the-two-harveys/

  13. Sharing for Sudha Reddy:

A BLESSING TO THE WORLD 🌎

A creative mind , is a blessing from The Creator of the the World.
Art in a wayward mind , is thus a blessing
Art from a wayward mind , is then an offering
    A blessing could be a curse , in a misunderstood,mediocre World.

A creative mind is fearless and knows no limiting
A creative mind makes one , uniquely intriguing
A creative mind creates universal Art, that is inspiring
A creative mind’s vision , makes our world special for living
A creative mind is blessed with a bouquet of eyes for viewing
A creative mind which is very active , needs rest and self care while working
A creative mind could be easily misunderstood by a mediocre world
But a creative mind is a blessing from The Creator of the world.

A blessing could be a curse, when the view of the two eyed world is limiting
A creative mind that is labeled as as a misfit , is misunderstood by the world that is limiting
The preoccupation, restlessness and list fullness is misunderstood to be mood swinging
There is some truth to it, that they are misfits in a world where mediocrity is booming
This is not the first time or will be the last time, that a creative mind is misunderstood in this world.
A creative mind is a blessing from The Creator of the world 🌎 😊💕🙏sr

  15. Fair warning that today's work contains no sunshine, flowers, happy chirping birds, or unicorns farting rainbows. Rather the opposite, in fact.

  16. I'm cheating a little today and reposting something I wrote a while back. This poem was written in response to an article a former student wrote about her struggles with mental health.

  17. I'd been struggling already when I read the prompt. Today is solely on mental health, nothing about creativity.
