Welcome to Day 16! Today’s prompt is Catch Me When I Fall. Finding that person who will support you at every turn is such an important part of any relationship. Also significant is what happens after the fall. How would you describe the balance between giving support and receiving it?

an attempt at terzanelle.. ( one word replaced in line 3)
ReplyDeleteconcept is for any pyramidal system...as in corporate or even family structures..
Catch me when I fall...
Catch me if you can
Being in the middle
Lift me if you can
Alone on the top of the hill
Away from the loneliness
Being in the middle
Below the peak of the hill
Being in the bottom is rough
Away from the loneliness
Peak is crowded and crampy
Filled with fear of falling
Being in the bottom is rough
Need a hand to lift me up
Need a heart to hold me up
Filled with fear of falling
A safety net to catch me
Catch me if you can
Being in the middle
Lift me if you can....sr
Catch me when I fall...
Wonderfully written!
DeleteReally liked the ‘Filled with fear of falling’ alliteration :)
DeleteReally lovely piece! I agree about the last line - definitely fits perfectly.
DeleteOoooh, well done! And that last line is so strong in combination with the rest of the poem. What a great start of the day.
ReplyDeleteI feel I should have written one for you all, the poetic support system! Instead I have this: https://unassortedstories.wordpress.com/2018/10/16/my-musical/

I love how you incorporated cookery terms! It gives the whole piece a gentle tongue-in-cheek feel that's lovely.

ReplyDeleteNot a Terzanelle. Though, I'll definitely try one before we're done. :D
ReplyDeletefall
I really like the 'quixotic missions to find my wings'!
DeleteA rushed effort in a festive season.

It may be rushed, but it's beautifully done, Sunita!

ReplyDeleteFallen and alone
ReplyDeleteI love the way the rhythm of the words highlight the loneliness and the pain of the betrayal.
DeleteThank You
DeleteFirst time I tried a terzanelle. I like the form, thanks for pointing it out.

ReplyDeleteLovely! 🙂
DeleteThank you!
DeleteBotanical metaphors! That seems to be a theme in your poetry this month - and it's beautifully appropriate for this piece. So lovely!
DeleteI know! I hadn't expected it to take this turn at all but I'm loving it. Thanks for your kind words!

ReplyDeleteI definitely relate to this piece. It's a powerful one.
DeleteToday was dark. A Cry for Help
ReplyDeleteGritty and tense with desperation and hope. Nice.
DeleteThe Dysfunctional Terzanelle of Doom, in which symbiotes and 'Catch me when I fall' get royally tangled up in incomprehensible metaphor things. (I was in terzanelle hell for a few hours with this one - nearly threw it out the window more than once.) It's pretty dismal, but it is DONE!

That was a wonderful trip into the imagination
DeleteThank you so much! It was difficult to write - I think I need more practice.

I Am So Lucky
ReplyDeleteThis took me two days to nail down. It slipped by so many times I wrote an entire poem from the discarded lines I kept coming up with. Phew. I'm feeling the burn for sure.
