Poetry Prompt Day 31 - Endless

You have made it to the last day of OctPoWriMo. Some of you have written a poem every single day during this personal challenge. Even if you didn't write every single day, I'm glad you stuck with us to the very end. I hope you dove into your words, played with them, and brought them to life. I hope your words took you to unexpected places and revealed things to you that you didn't realize before.

May your words, your poetry, never end.

  4. I entered OctPoWriMo on a whim and a gentle nudge from my wife. Never expected to be here today. I have missed out on few days and hopefully will write on those prompts soon. Thank you, everyone for your wonderful support and kind words. :)

  5. Last one for this year.
I greatly appreciate that nobody referred to my poems discussing depression, grief, or feeling like an outcast as "cathartic" this time around or implied that someday I would be "healed" of my "brokenness" as if I were not currently a whole person. I am what I am, and that is never likely to be a ray of sun shining through a rainbow unicorn fart.
Come by anytime for my photography offerings and dark and sarcastic poetry.

    1. I was so happy to see you again this year. I like your work, and I'm glad that there's space for darkness. To read about someone elses, gives permission/space to mine.

I'm learning more and more how important it is for people to simply be met where they are, to be genuinly listened to and nothing else. I thought I knew that before, but I guess that was my head. Now my hearts knows it, through experiencing it.

Thank you for sharing who you are.

    2. Cara, your poems are reality check. They showcase human emotions. Not every life is strewn with roses. Happy to have your company in this journey this year too. Hope we continue as long as the words touch our soul. :)

  10. Really happy to have made it to the end of OctPoWriMo: if my little boy had arrived on time I might not have done so! (He was due on the 27th though so if he wants to show up now, that would be handy!)

I've ironically written quite a short poem today, figuring that less is more. I was inspired by yesterday's form - the Pleiade - with its seven lines, and Hortensia Anderson's additional restriction of 6 syllables per line. It occurred to me yesterday that 7x6=42, and that as all Douglas Adams fans know, 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything. So in reversing the form (today creating a sestet of 7-syllable lines), I created a short form that is actually the gateway to everything we need thanks to its 42 total syllables. You can call it the Deep Thought form if you like (as in Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy it takes the computer named Deep Thought 7.5 million years to calculate that 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything).

    1. Or even the Molybdenum form, since "The atomic number of Molybdenum is 42, as mentioned by Elliot Cooper.

Coincidence? I think not, because molybdenum is a very important element for humans and plants in minute quantities for proper growth."

  11. I did a variation on a loop poem today. Instead of starting each line with the last word of the previous line, I did each stanza. A Step

  12. I want to tell everyone how satisfying it has been this month being a part of the OctWriPoMo2018 writing and reading community. Every day – and sometimes after midnight the night before – it was happy anticipation to see what the next theme, prompts, and forms would be. I got into a routine, one of the only regular routines since I retired, and took joy (or whatever emotion feeling at the time) in writing, then going through the comments section of the day, then through the link up list to read others' work and comment. Several of us are now connected via WP or Blogger. I've learned a lot from each of you and it knocks me over how STRONG each and every one of us are. I never thought of poets as being necessarily strong before. To be able to live through so much of what this world and life dishes out, then to act as a scribe to it takes immeasurable strength. If I don't see you “out there”, I really hope to see you for OctWriPoMo2019! I'd also like to thank the generous host and all of the volunteers who took their time and creative spirits to come up with the provocative prompts!

  20. You know I never actually expected to make it to the end. Thought I'd dry up or just get lazy around halfway. But I didn't and some of my best work so far came out during this. This was a wild ride and I loved every second of it - even the frustrated writer's block hair removal moments.

    So, in honor of that...
