Welcome to Day 3! Today’s theme is insecurity. Most of us have experienced a moment in which we were unsure in love. Feelings, sometimes disguised as butterflies, create experiences akin to riding a rollercoaster. Was your inner voice whispering in your ear, urging you to take a step back or was it encouraging you to let go and just enjoy? How do you harness that power and chase away all doubt?

Delete“When never yet has loved endured?”
DeleteWhat a pressing line. Awesome poem!
Hi Jazmin X - After visiting your page and enjoying your moving florette, I realized that I had missed the proper meter and rhyme scheme in mine. So I revised. Thanks for showing me how it's done!
DeleteHere's how I try to deal with insecurity in poetic form :)...

Allen..what an inspiring poem! Yes, it is comforting when we accept every twist with a pinch of salt. :) Couldn't comment on your blog as there was an error :)
DeleteThis was a very reassuring poem. What a great reminder! Awesome :)
DeleteThanks so much for your lovely feedback! Sam :)
DeleteI enjoyed that, insightful and engaging with a twist of humour
DeleteDay-3
ReplyDeleteTrying to adhere to the poetic forms can be time consuming as well as refreshing. Tried the Florette for the first time. There is always a first.

Beautiful poem! I especially love the middle stanza.

First time writing a Florette! It was a pleasant challenge. Day 3: https://galaxychasher.blogspot.com/2018/10/3-doubting-florette.html?m=1
ReplyDeleteWell done! It's a fun form once you get the hang of it. Yours flows perfectly.
Deletea chain rhyme quatrain for today :)

Here is today's effort.
ReplyDeleteInsecurity
I honestly don't remember having written a Florette before, but I must have. It's one of my tags.
A fine effort, Cara :)
DeleteSweetly written and moving. Thank you!
DeleteWell done!
DeleteGreat message!
DeleteOffering from the Netherlands (more widely known as Holland): unassortedstories.wordpress.com/2018/10/03/fixed/ A florette? No. But insecurity: yes.
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful piece there. Doubts.

ReplyDeleteToday's try - Insecurity
ReplyDeleteMy first attempt with a Florette.... https://talesofafamily.blog/2018/10/03/loves-embrace/#more-14662
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and tender. Lovely piece!
DeleteI've never written a florette before. Thanks for the prompt! https://wp.me/p9xtV9-hV
ReplyDeleteYour last line says it all! Well done.
DeleteTried a florette and my poem went haywire. I actually got insecure about my writing for a bit. Then I decided to just go with the flow instead.
ReplyDeleteYou and me @ Namysaysso
I really love this especially the things you built with at the end. It's wonderful, I'm glad you went with the flow!
DeleteI too had never written a florette before. Thanks for introducing me to this form (which ostensibly appears simpler than it is!): http://biancasbookblog.blogspot.com/2018/10/octpowrimo-2018-day-3-insecurity.html
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the form looking simpler than it really is, Bianca - I had a hard time with it. But you've made yours so beautiful, and the lines flow so well!
DeleteIt's a little tricky but lends itself to almost lyrical pieces. Yours was perfect!
DeleteI have a few more unusual forms planned. :)
Thanks both :)
DeleteJust noticed today that we could link up here. So, here is today's effort. Hope you all enjoy! https://goo.gl/gwDpj7
ReplyDeleteFantastic! One thing I try to get across to my students is that you can tell a complete story in a poem. I'd like to share this with my classes when we get to our poetry unit.
DeleteI made an acrostic today: INSECURE
ReplyDeleteI love this! Fits so perfectly.
DeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteI found this both evocative and empowering at the same time. It's wonderful, Maria!
DeleteI tried the florette. It fried my brain. Does the Devil get insecure, especially after being defeated by a mortal? Hope you have fun finding out!
ReplyDeletehttps://shukuen.blogspot.com/2018/10/octpowrimo-2018-day-3-devil-six-months.html
This killed me. In a good way.
DeleteThank you! It was...quite the challenge, that's Piece #2, because I threw out Piece #1 after wrestling with it for an hour plus. Glad you had fun!

With this one I found out that I can write self-loathing sentiments relatively easily but expressing actual insecurity (vulnerability) doesn't come that naturally. So here's how it went:

I love the imagery of the pen and the serial killer. Too true, right there, the entire thing hits home in very familiar places. Love it!
DeleteThank you n_n
DeleteI've never written a florette before. Here's my first ever attempt at it - http://iscriblr.com/insecurities-in-love/
ReplyDeleteGood job! I imagine it wasn't easy! Kudos for trying something new, and doing it well!

Just heard about this challenge today! I always participate in the April NaPoWriMo and am so glad to participate in this one now too! Thanks! Enjoyed writing a Florette using most of the prompts today. https://leonaslines.com/2018/10/03/insecurity-vanquished/

Good evening from Arizona! My first florette, inspired by photos of Gillian Anderson, strangely enough.
ReplyDeleteFlorette for Gillian Anderson
I loved the airy feel and the words chosen to rhyme. It gave the piece a mix of propriety and ambiguity.

Insecurity has no place to stay.. at least for long..
It stays only as long as we want it to stay, so no worries..sr
Insecurity is a human nature.. but natural. no way to avoid it. how long we want to hang on to it... some of us enjoy it as a fantasy until it incapacitates us... sr
