Day 3: Insecurity

Welcome to Day 3! Today’s theme is insecurity. Most of us have experienced a moment in which we were unsure in love. Feelings, sometimes disguised as butterflies, create experiences akin to riding a rollercoaster. Was your inner voice whispering in your ear, urging you to take a step back or was it encouraging you to let go and just enjoy? How do you harness that power and chase away all doubt?

Suggested poem type: Florette

Word Prompts:    doubt
            trust
            overcome
            embrace
                               secure

Our prompts are only suggestions, where you find inspiration for your poetry is up to you!

During OctPoWriMo, if you want to make sure that we know you have written something new, comment in that day's post with your link to your blog and/or share your link on Twitter with the hashtag, #OctPoWriMo.

Remember to visit two or more OctPoWriMo participants and leave encouraging and supportive words along the way.

    3. Hi Jazmin X - After visiting your page and enjoying your moving florette, I realized that I had missed the proper meter and rhyme scheme in mine. So I revised. Thanks for showing me how it's done!

Trying to adhere to the poetic forms can be time consuming as well as refreshing. Tried the Florette for the first time. There is always a first.

  12. Tried a florette and my poem went haywire. I actually got insecure about my writing for a bit. Then I decided to just go with the flow instead.

  13. I too had never written a florette before. Thanks for introducing me to this form (which ostensibly appears simpler than it is!): http://biancasbookblog.blogspot.com/2018/10/octpowrimo-2018-day-3-insecurity.html

    1. You're right about the form looking simpler than it really is, Bianca - I had a hard time with it. But you've made yours so beautiful, and the lines flow so well!

    2. It's a little tricky but lends itself to almost lyrical pieces. Yours was perfect!

I have a few more unusual forms planned. :)

  21. With this one I found out that I can write self-loathing sentiments relatively easily but expressing actual insecurity (vulnerability) doesn't come that naturally. So here's how it went:

  35. Insecurity Abandoned

    Thirst for knowledge
    Inspired vision
    A clear purpose
    Committed action
    The outcome finds its place
    procrastination promoted out
    Control issues out sourced
    Non attachment in serviced
    Accepting the results as is

Insecurity has no place to stay.. at least for long..
It stays only as long as we want it to stay, so no worries..sr

Insecurity is a human nature.. but natural. no way to avoid it. how long we want to hang on to it... some of us enjoy it as a fantasy until it incapacitates us... sr
