Almost halfway there! Today is Day 13 and the prompt is If I Were You. Are there things you sometimes need to get off your chest? When was the last time you felt strongly that someone needed to see things from your point of view? I think this prompt lends itself perfectly to a Blitz Poem. This is one of my favorite types to write, especially when I need to rant. Don’t be discouraged by its length. Once you get into the groove, it all falls into place and usually leads to a powerful piece. Give it a try!
Suggested poetry type: The Blitz Poem
Word Prompts: should

Remember, our prompts are only suggestions. Where you find inspiration for your poetry is up to you.
During OctPoWriMo, if you want to make sure that we know you have written something new, comment in that day's post with your link to your blog and/or share your link on Twitter with the hashtag, #OctPoWriMo.
If you would like to leave an active link in the comments:
<a href = "your link">your title</a>
You have to put the link to your post (same link you would put in the comment section) in the "your link" space within the quotations and the title to your post in the “your title” space.
Our link would look like this:
<a href="https://poetsonthepage.blogspot.com/">OctPoWriMo</a>
Once you hit publish on your comment it would look like this (only with the name of your post):
I hope that helps. You don't have to do this. It is only if you would like to make your link an active link.
Remember to visit two or more OctPoWriMo participants and leave encouraging and supportive words along the way.
Happy Saturday :)

Lovely, thoughtful
DeleteI Love this!
DeleteFair warning that this one gets political and is extremely unflattering to its subject.

Missed yesterday's prompt. Might write something later today. Today's prompt was fun. Didn't do a blitz. Just some free verse

Nice poem but the last two lines, wow, just put me in it.
DeleteYes, those last two lines are wonderful. Well done!
DeleteAgree with the others, the close is a gut punch and perfect.
DeleteDay-13 Blitz all the way.

I did not write a blitz, I was way too tired after a full day of work. I did however go slam poet Bill Moran style as it seemed to fit the subject matter.

I love the image of the scarf, and wrapping yourself, and others in it. What a lovely piece!
DeleteI do love The Blitz form. Here's mine for today.
ReplyDeleteAfraid of Alone
There was lots of tension in that. It really gave the poem some zing. You could feel the ultimatum.
DeleteBlitz it is indeed! It really works, especially with the subject matter.

DeleteMy First Blitz Poem! Thanks for the introduction to it. https://charmedchaos.com/2018/10/13/thorns-of-joy/
ReplyDeleteAfter staring at a blank page for way too long, I realized I was looking at it the wrong way, so I twisted it until I could write it. If I Were You

ReplyDeleteI could not get anywhere with the prompt today, so I dug through my notebooks and found a snip about a young girls taking tea with her grandmother and hearing about the "old world."

ReplyDeleteIf I were you...An attempt at blitz
ReplyDeleteIn my past life
If I were you
you got to be like me
you had to be me
Me, as in how to do things
Me, as how I think
Think about me
Think All about me
Me, as how I felt as miss perfect
Me only one whom I could tolerate
Tolerate, a test of patience
Tolerate, a test of relative degree
Degree of discrepancy
Degree of competency
Competency in criticizing
Competency at perfection
Perfection is a boon
Perfection is a curse
Curse in disguise
Curse a blessing
Blessing to have met you
Blessing for polar opposites
Opposites attract
Opposites complement
Complement each other
Complement the strength
Strength is forgiving
Strength is loving
Loving me
Loving you
You are not perfect
You are unique
Uniquely flawed
Uniquely talented
Talent of patience
Talent of compassion
Compassion love
Compassion for tolerance
Tolerance for differences
Tolerance to flaws
Flaws are universal
Flaws flow in relationships
Relationships make life livable
Relationships make life lovable
LOVABLE
LIVABLE
LIFE....sr
