Day 23: See Me

Day 23 already! Today’s prompt is See Me. I love the simplicity and strength of this statement. What is it that you wish others knew about you? What would you want those in your closest relationships to acknowledge? What is your truth?

Suggested Poetry Form: Haibun

            uncover

  1. This morning’s prompt encouraged me to share a poem which I feel a bit vulnerable about sharing!

  5. Mostly a Tanka, although I suppose it could technically be a Haibun due to the short, snarky note tacked onto the end.

  6. And we have a right to our unspoken truths, don't we? Let's face it we all wear masks to some degree or another. Love the way you capture this here!

    2. I agree, brilliant perspective on the prompt and current culture-- our need for our lives to be witnessed.

  13. A rather macabre, weird-ish take on the prompt - yup, direction went way off magnetic north for this one.

  18. OctPoWriMo 2018 seems to make it more and more personal as the end draws near. I admit that some of these prompts gave me incentive to dig into the lower points of my life. Today's prompt was no exception.

  22. I dreamt of a day when I won’t feel the need for you to see me .
After a long time trying to prove my worth. Finally it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I am finally free when I realized that I didn’t need anyone to measure me . I am my own measure to get better every moment . I set my standards and my self worth. I try to be s better human being every day every interaction. As long as I am honest and try to be true to self and to my values and convictions. I feel less need to be recognized.or for others to see me . The reward and recognition also appear to have changed overtime . Now I value my freedom of spirit , time and thus peace of mind, more than anything... of course to try and be a human first is the harder task than to be seen.. sr

    You can see through me
    I can uncover come clear
    You can see past me

    See beneath me
I raise and see you in eyes
    My heart not crushed

    Not above mine
    I see eyes at level
    Not below mine

    My eyes glitter
    Through your judgement
    My heart beats

    No one to judge
    Freedom of the spirit
    My soul shines ... sr

  27. A series of haiku

    You don’t see me ....

    Highly focused
    Often gets blamed
    Fir not seeing me

    Are they born that way
    Or the task on hand
    Make a habit

    Habit to excel
    A second nature is born
    To invisibility

    Missing much for self
    Hyper focused left out
    A disability

    Tunnel vision
    See part of a whole
    Vulnerability

    For not seeing you
    Don’t say I don’t see
I see the task ... sr

    Highly focused
