OctPoWriMo 2020 - First Prompts

OctPoWriMo begins on Thursday and I'm very behind in getting things ready. Lots going on in my life, as usual, but here are the first week's prompts for those who need them ahead of time.

I will be coming back daily, beginning Oct. 1st, to write into each prompt, and I'll be sharing photos, word prompts, poetry types and more.

Remember, our prompts are only suggestions, you can find your inspiration wherever your muse leads you. Please visit the other participants, share the hashtag, #OctPoWriMo on social media, and share your link in the comments below. Let us know how this journey into poetry is going for you and if this is your first year or if you have been with us from the beginning.

Anyone Can Write Poetry

I truly believe anyone can write poetry and I created OctPoWriMo as a safe place for others to explore their words.

This has been a difficult year for everyone with the pandemic messing with everyone's plans for 2020. I hope you were able to stay healthy during this chaotic time.

Now more than ever people need an outlet for how they are feeling and poetry is a wonderful way to do just that.

To help spread the word about OctPoWriMo,  I challenge you to find your favorite writing tip shared during one of the previous Septembers and share the link across your social media. Tag us with #OctPoWriMo so we can see what your favorites are.

This is one of my favorites.

OctPoWriMo 2020

It is that time of the year again when the weather, hopefully, is growing cooler and some are getting out their fall decorations. Which means... OctPoWriMo is coming up just around the corner on October 1st.

If you are new to OctPoWriMo, it is writing 31 poems in 31 days. We will be posting prompts daily beginning October 1st and you can choose to follow the prompt or find your inspiration elsewhere. When you have a poem up on your blog or posted on another site, come back to that day's post and leave a comment with a link back to your poem.

After you post your comment hop on over to read and comment on other participants poetry. Remember to be kind and say something you like about the poem in their comment section. All are welcome to participate, from new to poetry to people who have been writing for years.

You don't have to post your poem online to participate, but we would love to hear from you in the comment section on how your words, your poems, are coming along.

Until October 1st, feel free to roam through previous years of OctPoWriMo and if you create any warm up poetry, I hope you'll come back and share in the comments so we can check it out.

Remember,  play with your words until you breathe life into them!

Love,

Morgan Dragonwillow
