I thought I should say first, before getting into this prompt, that I didn't come into this month with a plan. I am intuitively flowing where the prompts lead. I normally choose all the prompts in advance, dole them out to the volunteers and myself, and we each write with maybe a general theme in mind. I did choose a general theme of, Shine Your light, when I wrote the first prompt. Each of the prompts are flowing unpredictably, but lovingly, toward your words glowing brighter, of you becoming freer, and finding your inner light on the page. Now on to the prompts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During my process of art journaling, I have discovered the beauty in chaos. Not to say I never saw it before, but while smearing paint without a goal in mind something happened. Something loosened up within me and allowed me to go deeper and be freer on the page. The art page at least.
I created this while I was processing a friend's death. It wasn't about anything but intuitively moving paint around the page.
And this one, dropping color bit by bit, meditatively.
And this...
None of these were about the outcome, they were about processing the chaos within and then finding the beauty.
Poetry Prompts:
Find colored pens, crayons, watercolors, or whatever you have that you can use to put color on the page. Remember, don't worry about the outcome, just swirl the colors around the page. When you feel complete, write for ten minutes about your thoughts and feelings before, during and after putting color to the page.
Word Prompts:
Beauty
Chaos
Feelings
Poetry Type:
Free Verse - Allow yourself to boldly explore the spaces between the words.
or
Create your own poetry type, play with the words and spaces, rhyming and timing, counting and shape.
Music and Dance
When I think about music that finds beauty in chaos it has to be STOMP. They epitomize beauty in chaos.
Beautiful artwork. I particularly like the third image.
ReplyDeleteI didn't follow directions, but I did use the words.
I have been visiting at the very least the person who posted in front of me with these prompts. As usual, I have taken on way too many projects. But I wouldn't miss this one.
Dear Neil
Loved all your Artwork.. what beautiful mystic patterns appeared..
Oh, I *love* it; the beautiful yet harsh imagery feeds the inner rage I feel all too often these days.
DeleteI combined this with another prompt that asked for the Vers Beaucoup form. So difficult and not my favorite.
ReplyDeleteUnraveling Chaos
I love the colourful art Morgan! And thank you for helping me get some brushes out today. Like poetry, painting has been absent from my life the last months (traded in for work and reading. Loads).
ReplyDeleteI hope that by the end of the month I'll understand how to give my poems the lay-out I want. I don't understand the new WordPress editor at all, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming to the conclusion that there's a reason I almost never write poetry. And it's because I'm REALLY not very good at it.
I don't know, that was pretty nice! You paint a wonderful picture.
DeleteRather than using the artificial task of an artwork, I chose to see how my mind wandered through my Saturday gardening tasks. And discovered that it wandered not at all, but was a lovely restful blank. https://xanhaiku.wordpress.com/2020/10/04/the-thoughtless-gardener/
