A year ago this weekend I fell and tore my meniscus. A lot of things changed for me because of it, some good but a lot not so good and I'm pretty positive I still have stuff to let go of around it.

One good thing that came from it was time for me to dive into art journaling. This is the first spread in my art journal after the accident.

Poetry Prompts:
Write for ten minutes, or more if necessary, about what you want/need to let go of, what still triggers upset when you think of it, what turns your stomach. If you have your own way of letting it go, do so when you are finished writing. If you don't, one way I like to let go is to burn the page (in a safe container or outside in a firepit - be safe) and visualize myself letting it go as the smoke drifts away.
Word Prompts:
Letting go
forgiveness
victory
smoke

Day 10: #OctPoWriMo2020
ReplyDeleteIt’s a Tyburn this time! A New Form for me and am really excited about it.
Also the theme of “ Letting Go” is so known to me and I believe all of us go through certain phases in life where experiences are not so good. What I have learnt is to let go and move on since each time the mind thinks about that unpleasant moment, the heart suffers . Life is too beautiful to be spent in the arms of what has happened in the past.Let bygones be bygones but the lessons learnt must never be forgotten. My poem talks about this journey of healing and thriving.

ReplyDeleteI already knew I'd be writing about gardening today, so I'm offprompt, but I like this prompt (as it's one of my own perennial themes), so I'll get back to it on a later day! Here's what I wrote today, about the garden:
ReplyDeletea sonnet; https://xanhaiku.wordpress.com/2020/10/10/autumn-gardening/
and a tanka: https://xanhaiku.wordpress.com/2020/10/10/a-gardeners-complaint/
Here's an older poem (or "spit" really) on the theme of letting go. Can't resist posting it here, as it's one of my favorites.

I'm really enjoying stretching myself to try all these forms that are new to me - thank you so much for putting this together, Morgan! My CinqTroisDecaLa
ReplyDeleteI "let go" in the sense that I let go of the compulsion of trying to use the prompts and here we are.

Yesterday was a tough day for me, I just couldn't go on prompt, it hit too close to home. So instead, I used Morgan's beautiful picture as inspiration to take my mind off things. I was exhausted and couldn't finish the poem until tonight, but here it is. https://www.instagram.com/p/CGNZBipDdAb/
