Can you believe we’re over halfway through this poetry journey? I know I always learn something every year I take part in OctPoWriMo, and I always get better at writing. And I usually find a new poetic form I’d never heard of before. I do love the suggested forms, don’t you?
Today’s Prompt: Family
“The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life.” -Richard Bach
“Family is a life jacket in the stormy sea of life.” -J.K. Rowling
"Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind.... or forgotten." -Lilo and Stitch
“Friends become our chosen family.” -Unknown

Who is your family? Are you close to your biological family? Do you have a chosen family?
I have seven siblings, and I am only close to one of them. My sister is my best friend, but I actually blocked one of my brothers online because he’s so toxic. However, family is still very important to me.
My friends are so very important to me. I am an introvert so it takes me a long time to truly be friends with someone, and then they are family. I don’t have many true friends, so I treasure my chosen family.
Word Prompts:
Brother
Sister
Blood
Chosen
Love
Suggested Poetry Type: Kyrielle

Esther Spurrill Jones has been writing since she was very young. She has written in many genres, but poetry is her first love. She has a few collections of poetry available on Kindle. Esther enjoys introducing people who have little or no experience to the joy of poetry. To this end, she has written several articles on Medium on how to write and enjoy poetry. Esther lives in the Frozen North (Saskatchewan, Canada) with the love of her life and three awesome terrible cats.
Esther, I face the same situation. I have 5 siblings and none are close. We live in our own universe.

Don't know how I missed this. I guess when I count, it goes "fifteen, sixteen, eighteen." I suck. Here is my poem that no-one will read because it's in the afterthought zone.
