OctPoWriMo 2019 Count Down

It seems the poetry prompts for, OctPoWriMo 2019, are going to be all about diving into the shadows to mine for gold. If you decide to follow along with us in October, you will have an opportunity to follow your words into the crevices and hopefully come out the other side feeling transformed. Of course as always, our prompts are only suggestions. You are free to find your inspiration anywhere you choose and still come back here to share your links to your poetry.

Mining for Gold - Art by MDragonwillow
I'm exploring art journaling as part
 of my healing process.

Below you will find the prompts and you will see us writing more in depth about them all month long. I know some of you have a tight schedule and like to write your poems ahead of time so I began sharing them early a couple of years ago.

I am going to be taking my poetry to the deepest depths and I'm sure there will be others doing the same. OctPoWriMo is a safe place for people to explore their words, their poetry, and to take it wherever it wants to go. What it is not, is a place to give someone unsolicited advice. Most of us just want to be heard. So please keep yourself from telling a poet how to get help unless they are actually asking for it. That includes telling someone, "things will get better" or, "give it time" or "stiff upper lip" etc. Try instead, "I felt your words deep in my soul" or "Your words captured me at the beginning and didn't let go until the end" of course you can choose your own words, these are simply examples.

I am doing something different this year, I will be posting my poems on my Patreon. I'm going through a difficult time right now; I'm processing a breakup and I need to find a new place to live. My poems will post for Patrons first and then for everyone else.

There isn't a sign up/link up this year. All you have to do after posting a poem on your blog is to come back and share your link on that day's poetry prompt post.

If you are interested in checking out art journaling (I painted the above pic while participating in Life Book Creativity and Wellbeing Summit by Tamara Laporte), Check out Effy Wild and/or Tamara Laporte. They both have excellent and affordable online programs. I have taken programs from each of them and I think they are both phenomenal. I am sharing these links because I think their programs are helpful for people on a healing journey. I do not receive anything if you click on them or if you purchase their programs.

I look forward to reading your poems and seeing where your words lead.

Peace,
Morgan Dragonwillow

OctPoWriMo 2019

It is that time of year again. Time for days to grow shorter, nights to grow longer, and a month of poetry in October. Usually I already have a list of the poetry prompts created but this year I'm having a little trouble putting it together. Hopefully I will have it created by the end of the week. I do know that it will be about diving deep to uncover our inner truth and mining the shadows for gold.

If you would like to volunteer to help out during OctPoWriMo, email me at awritersuniverse at gmail dot com.

My new kitten who is about five and a half months old, Tia.
She is a rescue kitty, smart, cuddly, and adorable.
Hope you are having a peaceful weekend.

Morgan Dragonwillow
